Dr. Prasanta Kumar Ghosh did his M. Tech.  in Chemical Engineering & Chemical Technology followed by a PhD from the University of Calcutta. He worked in the government for more than 33 years. He is known for his contributions in Drug pricing, Policies for Biotechnology Industry promotion, IPR protection & Biosafety regulations for handling GMOs. He also worked in two public sector undertakings where he acquired hands-on experience in fermentation, handling of blood & blood products and separation of bio-molecules. He has research interests in multifunctional areas including chemical synthesis and study of condensation kinetics, manipulation of polymeric nano-particles, recombinant DNA technology and nucleic acid research. After leaving government he joined Cadila Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Ahmedabad, India (2002-‘07) where he had been the President, heading the biotech division.
